The Whatnauts
The Whatnauts were an American soul and funk vocal group formed in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1969. Comprised of members Billy Herndon, Garrett Jones, and Gerald "Chunky" Pinkney, they gained popularity during the 1970s for their unique blend of soulful harmonies and funky grooves. Their biggest hit came in 1970 with the release of "I'll Erase Away Your Pain," which reached number 50 on the Billboard R&B chart. The group continued to release music throughout the decade and were known for their smooth vocal performances and catchy hooks. In 1981, they collaborated with the legendary soul group, The Moments, on the hit single "Girls." The Whatnauts' music had a lasting impact on the soul and funk genres, with their distinctive sound earning them a dedicated fan base.
