The mission

The Mission, also known as The Mission UK in the United States, is a British rock band formed in 1986. The band was initially formed by ex-Sisters of Mercy members, Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams, after they left the Sisters in 1985. The Mission's sound is often described as gothic rock, post-punk, and alternative rock. Their debut album, "God's Own Medicine," released in 1986, achieved significant success with singles like "Wasteland" and "Severina" receiving attention. The band continued to release albums throughout the '80s and '90s, with their second album, "Children," spawning hit singles like "Tower of Strength" and "Beyond the Pale." Over the years, The Mission underwent several lineup changes, but Hussey remained a constant member and the primary songwriter. Despite disbanding in 2008, the band reunited in 2011 and has since been actively touring and releasing new music. They have accumulated a loyal fanbase and continue to be influential within the gothic and alternative rock scenes.
