The Carpenters were an American musical duo formed in 1969, consisting of siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter. They gained popularity in the 1970s with their melodic soft rock sound and Karen's distinctive vocal style. The duo achieved numerous hit singles, including "Close to You," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Top of the World." Their music was known for its meticulously crafted arrangements and rich harmonies.
