Juvenito Rosas

Juventino Rosas, born on January 25, 1868, was a Mexican composer and violinist whose impact on the musical landscape remains notable. Rosas is most renowned for his composition "Sobre las Olas" (Over the Waves), which has achieved worldwide recognition as a waltz. Completed in 1888, this timeless piece quickly became a popular addition to the repertoire of dance bands, symphony orchestras, and even circus performances. Despite its widespread acclaim, Rosas sadly did not gain significant financial success or lasting fame during his lifetime. Tragically, he passed away at the young age of 26 on July 9, 1894. Despite this, Juventino Rosas left an indelible mark on Mexican music with his memorable melodies, and his work continues to be cherished and celebrated to this day.
