Justin Hurwitz

Justin Hurwitz is an American composer, best known for his work in film and musical theatre. Born on January 22, 1985, in California, Hurwitz began his music career at a young age, playing the piano and trumpet. He attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he met filmmaker Damien Chazelle, with whom he would collaborate on multiple projects. Hurwitz gained widespread recognition for his work on Chazelle's musical film "La La Land" (2016), for which he composed the score and wrote the songs. The film's soundtrack received critical acclaim and won numerous awards, including an Academy Award for Best Original Score. In addition to "La La Land," Hurwitz worked on Chazelle's other films, including "Whiplash" (2014) and "First Man" (2018).
