Jimmy Fontana, born Enrico Sbriccoli in 1934, was an Italian singer and actor who played a significant role in the music industry. He began his career in the late 1950s as a member of the vocal group "Tony Fontane e i suoi Flippers," but eventually pursued a solo career under the stage name Jimmy Fontana. He gained international recognition in 1965 with his hit song "Il Mondo," which reached the top of the charts in several countries, including Italy, Germany, and the United States. Fontana's musical style was influenced by the Sanremo Festival, where he debuted in 1961 and won in 1971 with the track "Che Sarà." Throughout his career, he released numerous successful albums and collaborated with renowned musicians like Ennio Morricone. In addition to music, Fontana also ventured into acting, starring in several Italian films. His contributions to the musical landscape and his ability to captivate audiences with his soulful voice made him an influential figure in the Italian music scene until his passing in 2013.
