Deftones
Deftones, an American alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California in 1988, has consistently been recognized for their unique and innovative sound. Blending elements of alternative rock, metal, and post-hardcore, Deftones emerged during the nu-metal movement of the late 1990s alongside bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit. However, their music has always stood out due to its atmospheric and melodic qualities, juxtaposing heavy guitar riffs with ethereal vocals provided by lead singer Chino Moreno. Their breakthrough album, "White Pony" released in 2000, showcased their ability to experiment and push boundaries, earning critical acclaim and establishing them as one of the leading figures in the rock genre. Over the years, the band has consistently released thought-provoking and emotionally charged albums, such as "Diamond Eyes" (2010) and "Koi No Yokan" (2012), which further solidified their status as a pioneering force in the alternative metal scene. Notably, Deftones faced tragedy in 2008 when bassist Chi Cheng was rendered comatose following a car accident, eventually passing away in 2013. Despite this significant loss, Deftones persevered, and their subsequent albums, like "Gore" (2016) and "Ohms" (2020), continued to captivate both old and new fans. With their ever-evolving sound and unwavering dedication to their craft, Deftones continue to leave an indelible mark on the musical landscape.
