Bobby Helms

Bobby Helms was an American country and pop singer, best known for his hit songs "Jingle Bell Rock" and "My Special Angel." Born in 1933 in Indiana, Helms began his musical career at a young age, performing on local radio stations. In 1957, he released "Fraulein," which became a number one country hit. However, it was his 1957 Christmas song "Jingle Bell Rock" that secured his place in music history. The song has become a holiday classic, with its catchy melody and energetic vocals. Interestingly, Helms recorded the song in July, completely out of the holiday season, while his label was hesitant to release a Christmas song in the summer. Nevertheless, it went on to sell over a million copies. Bobby Helms continued to release music throughout the 1960s, but none achieved the same level of success as his earlier hits. He passed away in 1997, leaving behind a lasting musical legacy in both country and Christmas music.
