Anjos
Anjos, also known as the Duo Ouro Negro, was a popular Portuguese music duo formed in 1958. Comprised of brothers António and Fernando Pereira, Anjos found success by merging traditional Portuguese folk music with elements of rock and roll and pop. They gained international recognition when they represented Portugal in the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest with their upbeat song "Oração," finishing in 2nd place. Anjos had a fruitful career in the 1960s and 1970s, recording numerous albums and touring extensively. Their distinctive style, characterized by catchy melodies and harmonies, resonated with audiences, making them one of Portugal's most beloved musical acts of the time. Anjos disbanded in the late 1970s, and despite individual musical pursuits, the duo never officially reunited. However, their legacy lives on, with Anjos being considered pioneers in fusing traditional Portuguese music with contemporary influences.
