The Promise

"The Promise" is a synth-pop ballad originally written in the key of G major by the English band When in Rome. The song was released in 1987 as the lead single from their self-titled debut album. Composed by all members of the band, Clive Farrington, Andrew Mann, and Michael Floreale, the track gained significant popularity in the United States, reaching the 11th position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Interestingly, "The Promise" did not receive the same level of success in their home country, the United Kingdom. The melodic composition of the song features a catchy chorus, fueled by energetic synthesizers and heartfelt vocals, which perfectly captures the essence of '80s new wave music.
