San Francisco

"San Francisco" is a song by Scott McKenzie released in 1967. The song is written in the key of C major. It became widely popular during the counterculture movement in the 1960s, serving as an anthem for the Summer of Love. Although McKenzie performed the song, it was actually composed by John Phillips, a member of the folk-rock band The Mamas & the Papas. Interesting trivia about the song includes the fact that it was originally written as a jingle for the Monterey Pop Festival, but underwent modifications before its release. The melody features a catchy, folk-pop sound with uplifting guitar strumming and vibrant harmonies.
