Tonight's The Night

Tonight's the Night is originally in the key of G major. It was written and performed by Rod Stewart and released in 1976 as part of his album A Night on the Town. The song was produced by Tom Dowd. It became Stewart's second number one hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed at the top for eight consecutive weeks. The lyrics are suggestive, and the BBC temporarily banned the song from radio play. Actress Britt Ekland, who was Stewart's partner at the time, contributed a spoken French part near the end. The melody features a slow tempo with a chord progression based on G, C, D, and E minor. The arrangement includes acoustic guitar, piano, bass, light percussion, and a saxophone solo, supporting Stewart's distinctive vocal delivery.
