Bolero


Bolero is a work for large orchestra by French composer Maurice Ravel. It was composed in 1928 and first performed at the Paris Opera on November 22, 1928. The work is based on a single two-part theme that is repeated 18 times with different orchestration. The work is in the key of C major and has a tempo of 72 beats per minute. The work uses a constant rhythm on the snare drum throughout. The work was commissioned by the dancer Ida Rubinstein, who also choreographed a ballet for it. The work is one of Ravel's most famous and popular compositions.
