Over the Waves

"Sobre as Ondas" by Juventino Rosas is performed in the original key of E-flat major. It is a well-known Mexican waltz composed by Juventino Rosas in the late 19th century. Rosas, a Mexican composer and violinist, wrote the piece in 1888. The waltz is often performed by orchestras and is considered one of the most emblematic pieces of Mexican music. "Sobre as Ondas," which translates to "Over the Waves" in English, is characterized by its flowing melody and graceful waltz rhythm. It has been arranged and recorded by various artists and orchestras around the world. One curiosity is that despite its Mexican origins, the piece is often associated with circus performances and has been used in many circus acts over the years.
