Trumpet concerto

The Trumpet Concerto by Joseph Haydn is in the key of E-flat major. It was composed in 1796 for Anton Weidinger, a trumpeter who developed a keyed trumpet capable of playing chromatic notes. This concerto was one of the first written specifically for that instrument and marked a major advancement in trumpet composition. Joseph Haydn, an Austrian composer of the Classical period, completed the work while serving as Kapellmeister for the Esterházy family. A trivia point is that the concerto was not widely performed until long after Haydn’s death due to the limited use of the keyed trumpet. The melody features lyrical passages, dynamic contrasts, and classical orchestration, including strings and woodwinds, structured in three movements: Allegro, Andante, and Finale (Allegro).
