Moon River

"Moon River" is a popular song written by Henry Mancini in 1961. Written in the original key of C major, the composition was originally created for the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's," where it was performed by Audrey Hepburn. Henry Mancini won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and Johnny Mercer received the Grammy Award for Best Song of the Year in 1962, both for "Moon River." The song became a signature tune for Andy Williams, who recorded and released it as a single, reaching number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Interestingly, the iconic melody of "Moon River" was inspired by the composer sitting at the piano with the Portuguese lullaby "Fado" in mind.
