“La Vie en Rose,” which translates to “Life in Pink” or “Life Through Rose-Colored Glasses,” is a metaphorical expression of love’s euphoric bliss. The song captures the essence of falling in love and viewing the world through a lens of optimism, joy, and romance. With music by Louis Guglielmi and regular Piaf collaborator Marguerite Monnot, it has lyrics by Piaf herself and was the song that broke through for her internationally. The title is generally taken to mean looking through rose-colored glasses, a well-known saying.
