The song "Close to You" by Carpenters was originally released in the key of B-flat major. It was written by the famous songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The Carpenters, consisting of siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter, recorded and released the song in 1970. It became a huge hit for the duo, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Interestingly, before Carpenters recorded it, the song was initially offered to Herb Alpert, who turned it down.
