The Cardigans

The Cardigans, a Swedish rock band formed in 1992 in Jönköping, rose to international fame with their catchy pop-rock sound and distinct mix of genres. Fronted by vocalist Nina Persson, the group's breakthrough came with their third studio album, "First Band on the Moon," released in 1996, which featured the hit single "Lovefool." This song gained massive popularity after being included in the soundtrack for the film "Romeo + Juliet." The band's music is characterized by its smooth melodies and contrasting darker lyrical content. Over the years, The Cardigans have successfully experimented with different styles, from soft pop to heavier rock, which can be heard in albums like "Gran Turismo" (1998). They took a lengthy hiatus after releasing "Super Extra Gravity" in 2005, exploring solo projects before reuniting for occasional tours and performances in the subsequent years.
