Joaquín Rodrigo

Joaquín Rodrigo, a renowned Spanish composer, was born on November 22, 1901. He is best known for his composition, Concierto de Aranjuez, a groundbreaking guitar concerto that has become one of the most beloved and widely recognized pieces in classical music. Despite losing his eyesight at the age of three due to an illness, Rodrigo showed a remarkable talent for music from a young age. He studied music composition and piano at the Madrid Royal Conservatory and later pursued doctoral studies in musicology in Paris. Rodrigo's compositions often incorporated Spanish folk elements and drew inspiration from his deep love for his homeland. Besides his famous concerto, he composed an array of orchestral, chamber, and choral works. His contributions to music were recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious Prince of Asturias Award and the Gold Medal of Fine Arts.
