Irish Rovers
The Irish Rovers, a renowned folk band, originated in 1963 in Canada and have since gained international acclaim for their unique blend of traditional Irish music, humorous storytelling, and energetic performances. Founded by George Millar, Jimmy Ferguson, and Joe Millar, the group started off performing in local pubs and gradually gained recognition across North America. Their breakthrough came in 1967 when they released their hit single "The Unicorn," which reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, solidifying their success and paving the way for a long and prosperous career. The band has released numerous albums over the years, including the iconic "Irish Rovers in 1966," which featured their popular rendition of "The Black Velvet Band." From 1980 to 1995, they even hosted their own television series, titled "The Irish Rovers Show." Despite various lineup changes over the years, the band's commitment to preserving Irish musical traditions has remained steadfast, and they continue to tour and delight audiences worldwide with their infectious songs and jovial stage presence.
