Gym Class Heroes
Gym Class Heroes is an American alternative hip hop band formed in 1997 in Geneva, New York. Their unique blend of hip hop, rock, and pop genres gained them popularity throughout the 2000s. The band's frontman, Travis McCoy, initially formed the group as a project for his high school gym class. Gym Class Heroes gained mainstream success with their hit single "Cupid's Chokehold" in 2006, which featured a sample from Supertramp's "Breakfast in America." The band's album "The Quilt" debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2008. Known for their energetic live performances, Gym Class Heroes have toured with notable acts such as Fall Out Boy and The Roots. Despite taking a hiatus in 2012, the band reunited in 2018 and continues to produce music, showcasing their dynamic range and ability to seamlessly fuse different musical styles.
