Carlos Paião
Carlos Paião was a Portuguese singer-songwriter who made significant contributions to the musical landscape in the 1980s. Born on November 1, 1957, in Coimbra, Portugal, Paião began his career in music by participating in local festivals and writing songs for other artists. In 1981, he released his debut album titled "Play-Back," which included his breakthrough hit song "Pó de arroz." Known for his witty and humorous lyrics, Paião became a popular figure in the Portuguese music scene. One of his most iconic compositions was "Playback," which represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, securing a fourth-place position. Unfortunately, Carlos Paião's life was tragically cut short at the age of 30 in a car accident on August 26, 1988. Despite his untimely death, his music remains beloved and continues to influence the Portuguese music industry, leaving a lasting mark on the musical landscape.
