Blind Guardian

Blind Guardian is a German power metal band formed in 1984 in Krefeld, Germany. They are known for blending heavy metal with fantasy and literary themes in their music and lyrics. Originally called Lucifer's Heritage, the band changed their name to Blind Guardian in 1987 when they signed their first record deal. Their early albums showcased speed and thrash metal influences, but their sound evolved over time to incorporate orchestral elements and complex song structures. Blind Guardian's breakthrough came with their 1992 release "Somewhere Far Beyond," which included the fan-favorite track "The Bard's Song (In the Forest)." They continued to gain popularity with subsequent albums such as "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" (1998) based on J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Silmarillion." The band's distinctive sound is characterized by the soaring vocals of lead singer Hansi Kürsch and the intricate guitar work of Andre Olbrich and Marcus Siepen. Blind Guardian has released numerous successful albums, performed sold-out shows worldwide, and remains influential in the power metal genre.
