Alexey Pajitnov

Alexey Pajitnov, a Russian computer scientist, is best known as the creator of one of the most iconic video games of all time - Tetris. Born on March 14, 1956, in Moscow, Pajitnov developed a passion for puzzles and games from a young age. In 1984, while working at the Dorodnicyn Computing Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he created Tetris with the assistance of Dmitry Pavlovsky and Vadim Gerasimov. The game gained immense popularity, leading to an international sensation that transcended cultural barriers. Interestingly, due to the Soviet government's strict regulations, Pajitnov didn't directly profit from the success of Tetris until 1996 when he moved to the United States. Throughout his career, Pajitnov continued to contribute to the gaming industry and was involved in the development of various puzzle games. Today, Tetris remains a beloved classic, with numerous adaptations and iterations released across different platforms, solidifying Pajitnov's legacy as a pioneer in the world of gaming.
